Content Warning

I believe that defining genres, and precise blurbs can be effective as content warnings, especially when the genres are thrillers and suspense. However, given a few recent conversations in our community, I decided to add a few additional points.

To be clear, I think those are mostly for readers who want to avoid these subjects altogether. Sometimes they are only touched on, and I don’t write them in a particularly graphic way.

“I don’t need the author to give me all the all the gory details to understand the killer is an awful person and I was happy to find that Barbara Winkes seems to be on the same page as me.”

-Jude in the Stars Book Reviews

1. You are probably safe with all the Christmas romances. Only Bells Will Be Ringing deals with grief, but like all the holiday books, it’s overall on the sweeter and lighter side.

2. In the thrillers & suspense books and series, expect some violence, including violence against women (again, usually not too graphic, compared to the average in the genre). Indiscretions, Illusions, and Secrets deal with serial killers. I promise there’s also accountability, and badass women who get the job done.

3. Autumn Leaves has a brief scene alleging the threat of SA.

4. There’s a reference to suicidal thoughts in Introductions, and Summer Wine.

I hope you find these helpful for a better reading experience.

Best regards,

-Barbara
